Information about snoring

In Germany around 40% of women and 60% of men snore. This means that around 40 million people in Germany suffer from snoring.

About 80% of all overweight people snore.

It is estimated that around 250 million people snore in the European Union. In relation to the entire world, there are over 3 billion people.

So you are not alone with your problem!

Primary snoring is not considered a disease in Germany.
Therefore, the health insurance does not cover the costs.

Origin of the snoring noise

The German Society for Sleep Medicine says that snoring is caused by vibration of the soft palate and uvula. The trigger is the decrease in muscle tension in the area of the soft palate and uvula.

The palate trainer Gaumfit increases the muscle tension in the soft palate and thus stops snoring.

Origin of the snoring noise

The air inhaled through the nose is diverted to the trachea at the back of the throat. This creates turbulence that causes the soft palate to vibrate. This vibration is the snoring sound.

The palate trainer “Gaumfit” prevents the soft palate from vibrating.

Consequences of snoring

  • Daytime sleepiness
  • duction of intellectual abilities
  • The risk of cardiovascular diseases increases
  • Risk of heart attack and stroke increases
  • Decrease in potency
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stress in the relationship

Cardiovascular disease

When sleeping, there is a loss of tension in the muscles. This leads to a slackening of the tongue and soft palate. The tongue falls back, especially when lying on your back, and the airways are narrowed.

This leads to an increased exertion of exertion when breathing, which means stress for the body. This stress reaction releases adrenaline. The release of adrenaline leads to an increase in blood pressure and thus a burden on the cardiovascular system.

Lack of sleep, caused by snoring, can therefore lead to cardiac arrhythmias and heart attacks.

Dementia

The protein beta-amyloid is a factor in the development of dementia.

During sleep, this protein is transported away by glial cells.

A disturbed sleep, for example by snoring, leads to an incomplete removal of this protein.

Obesity

People who are overweight sleep less than 7 hours on average.

After a night of poor sleep, e.g. from snoring, the body stores energy for the next night. This energy is stored in body fat. Therefore, the body weight increases.

The feeling of a sleepless night comes later. Therefore, more is eaten and whoever is tired does less exercise.

Frequent snoring therefore leads to obesity!
